Letters to the Editor

Dear Mrs. Paul
I would like to congratulate you and your team for the super news-sheet you produce.  It evokes long forgotten situations.
One thing puzzles me - when I left in 1955 Rothes was a town.  I read in one of the articles Rothes was a 'village' - when did this happen? and why?
Apart from this surprise we both thoroughly enjoy reading of Rothes past and present.
Good luck for future editions.
Yours sincerely
Joyce Pidgely, Olney, Bucks.

Red Nose Day Coming Your Way
Dear Mrs. Paul
We would like to remind your readers that 12 March is one of the biggest fund-raising days of the year.  The pupils of Rothes Primary School have decided to join in the fun and hope to be sponsored for dressing up in red for the whole day.  We hope your readers will help us or do something outrageous themselves on this important day.

Editor's Note:
Thank you for your contributions to our Letters Page.  Although we can find no hard and fast rules for defining a town/village the fact that Rothes was previously a Burgh gives Rothes the right to be designated a town.
However, Local Authority projects such as the Best Kept Village Project include Rothes as they are categorised by head of population.
Your point has been accepted, and excluding references to such as the above, Rothes will be referred to as a town from now on.
