Ring in the New!
The Millennium events were well attended with everyone saying how well the occasion catered for all age groups. Thanks must go to the musicians on the night, Dez Johnston, Steven Love, Geordie Low, Robbie Thomson and 'Jocky' Phinn who gave their time freely to make the events go with a swing. Thanks also go to Mike Thomson's bonfire building team who did such a grand job and the Rothes Firemen who organised the fireworks. Graham Jefferson's video marathon was also much appreciated and an occasion will be organised for all to view. The Millennium Group will meet again shortly to advance other plans, such as the putting green, the children's village party and the playpark. The oak tree saplings are now being planted. Four have been planted at Rothes Primary School, two at Roundwood, two will be planted at the cemetery, two at the golf club and two at Glen Grant as part of the Whisky Festival. The Millennium Group received a donation of £250 from Diageo (Glen Spey). Councillor Pearl Paul planting Millennium Oak Trees at Rothes Primary School with pupils Michael Tawse, Aimee McAllister, Jasmine McDonald and Nicholas Cotton.
