 ESTABLISHING SPEYSIDE COMMUNITY WEB
The European Regional Development Fund made it possible for The Moray Council to supply equipment to be used by local communities to create a Community Web in their area. The task to establish 6 Community Web Groups in the Objective 1 area by May 1999 commenced with founding of the Speyside Community Web based at Aberlour Library.

INTRODUCTION TO THE COMMUNITY WEB PROJECT

As part of European Development Objective 1 Funding, the Western part of Moray received financial assistance for the sustainable development of rural areas. The funding was used to employ modern technology to help strengthen communities, develop people skills through training and aid business development.

European Regional Development Funding supports businesses of all sizes in all sectors to enhance competitiveness and improve operational efficiency for business growth and development.

PROJECT AIMS

The project aimed to develop businesses and communities by utilising Community Web Groups and by using internet technologies. It is useful for increasing the availability of training and enhancing employment prospects to improve the quality of life for those in rural areas and to contribute to economic stability in the area of Moray.
