Craigellachie Village Council held their AGM last night 9 November 2005. The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer were re-elected for another year.
There were no burning issues raised at the AGM. However it was disappointing to note that vandalism seems to be an issue. About £2100 has been spent on repairs to benches, broken hall windows, broken tennis pavilion windows and the flood lighting on the bridge. Let's hope this is just a one-off bad year for vandalism, as we could not hope to sustain this level of repair damage.
On the fundraising front, there are bingos planned for Saturday 3 December 2005 and for Wednesday 28 December 2005. We are fortunate that Stephen and Freda Strathdee have agreed to sponsor the majority of the Bottle bingo planned for 28 December 2005. A very big thank you must go to them. The remainder of the prizes have also been donated by various businesses and hall user groups, so thank you to them as well.
It is also planned to open up the village hall on Hogmanay for a Touch of Tartan. This event is to be along similar lines as last year with people reserving a table for a small sum, bringing their own drink and socialising with other people. We hope to have music playing in the background, but there will be no entertainment as such - merely a meeting place. It will be suitable for families - an alternative to the pub (only cheaper as you bring your own drink! The hall will close at 12.30am then people can congregate in the Square.
The village Council received a large bag of daffodil bulbs from Moray Council. These will be planted in tubs around the village and around the picnic area at the old Bridge.
