Archiestown is a village with a population of some 180 situated in the heart of Speyside and on the Malt Whisky Trail. It was founded in 1760 by Sir Archibald Grant of Monymusk. In the village there is an 18 foot high war memorial, which was unveiled in 1920 by the Duke of Richmond and Gordon.
The central area of the village is a Conservation Area based around the village square with the majority of the buildings constructed from local stone. Archiestown is regularly well placed in the Moray Best Kept Village Competition and tremendous efforts are made each year by the residents to ensure gardens and public areas are maintained to a high standard.
The village hall in the square
is a centre for activities within the village with regular weekly
sessions for Bowling and Yoga. Contacts for these are William
